Normal train speeds resume between West Falls Church-VT/UVA and East Falls Church Metrorail stations

Orange Line trains will share one track between the West Falls Church-VT/UVA and East Falls Church Metrorail stations on weekdays for two additional weeks

Metro’s Orange Line trains have resumed operating at normal speeds between the West Falls Church-VT/UVA and East Falls Church Metrorail stations as a result of a concentrated effort to install new rail and cross ties in that area to improve service reliability and to maintain a state of good repair.

In an effort to prevent future speed restrictions, Orange Line trains will continue to share one track between these two stations on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. from Oct. 12 to 22 as personnel install new rail and cross ties and make the tracks more durable for a smoother ride between these two rail stations.

Metrorail customers traveling between these stations should not anticipate any delays because trains operate approximately every 12 minutes during this time frame.

To alert customers about this upcoming daytime work, Metro will make train and system announcements, issue e-alerts and post signs at the affected stations.
