Public meeting planned on Metrobus K6 improvements

Preliminary recommendations on line changes to be discussed

The public is invited to provide input into improving Metrobus service along the K6 New Hampshire Avenue-Maryland Line. Metro will hold a public meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Takoma Park Recreation Center, 7315 New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park, Md., to continue discussions on the study of the bus line.

This is the second and final public meeting for the K6 Line study before recommendations are made to the Metro Board of Directors. The first meeting was held in May, when Metro received input from riders, businesses owners and people in the local community about suggestions for improving the line.

The K6 extends between White Oak Shopping Center and Fort Totten Metrorail station, mostly along New Hampshire Avenue and averages about 6,000 passengers on weekdays.

The forum will begin with an open house, followed by a formal presentation. At 7:20 p.m. there will be a group discussion of recommendations to improve the K6 Line. No registration is required to attend the meeting, and Spanish translators and materials in Spanish will be available.

Metro has partnered in the study with the District Department of Transportation, Maryland Department of Transportation, Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation, Montgomery County Department of Transportation and the city of Takoma Park.
