Metrobus stops shift for building construction in Rosslyn area

Preparations being made for additional rail, bus customers

Construction of a 35-story office building near the Rosslyn Metrorail station in Arlington, Va., has made it necessary for Metro to shift Metrobus bus stops for routes 3A, B and E, 4A, B and H, and 15K along North Moore Street, and has enabled the bus schedules to remain intact.

The section of North Moore Street between 19th Street, North, and Wilson Boulevard has been converted to a southbound one-way street and stops for the bus routes have shifted south (toward Wilson Boulevard) to ensure customer safety during the construction.

Metro has worked with Arlington officials to ensure signage was posted and bus supervisors have been out near the bus stops to advise customers of the changes.

Work on the office building is expected to last about three years. Once completed, the new building will be the tallest in the Washington Metropolitan area and likely will bring thousands more customers daily to the Rosslyn station. Plans are already underway to construct three additional elevators and make other improvements to the Rosslyn station, such as installing more lighting. Work on the elevators is set to begin this month.

Metrobus customers can use the Next Bus information service to find out when buses will arrive at a given stop, by logging onto Metro’s website at metropensdoors.com or calling 202-637-7000 and saying, “Next Bus.”
