Metro honors safety-focused employees


Awards promote good safety practices, encourage reporting unsafe practices

Metro recently recognized 69 employees as “Champions of Safety,” for their efforts in safeguarding Metro customers, employees and equipment, and helping to make prevention the guiding force of the agency’s safety program.

Along with showing appreciation to a group of dedicated employees, Metro hopes the awards will encourage all employees to continue to perform their jobs with safety in mind and to report safety concerns.

“I’d like to congratulate our first-ever Champions of Safety along with those honored as Rising Champions of Safety and of course winners in this year’s Bus and Rail Roadeos,” said Metro General Manager Richard Sarles. “It was a pleasure to honor very deserving coworkers who exemplify safety-first values in our Bus, Rail and MetroAccess departments.”

Also recognized for their safety-focused work were employees from the offices of maintenance, rail transportation, track, structures and systems maintenance, plant maintenance, bus planning and rail car maintenance.
