Metro anticipates normal Tuesday evening commute in the snow

Riders should expect normal service

Metro anticipates a normal commute tonight (Jan. 11) on Metrorail, Metrobus and MetroAccess as workers prepare to remove snow from station entrances and platforms and supervisors prepare to monitor the region’s roadways in preparation for this evening’s expected snowfall.

Metrorail riders are encouraged to use care and caution while entering and exiting Metrorail stations this evening as station platforms may be slippery due to weather conditions.

Metrobus expects to operate its regular schedule this evening with supervisors monitoring road conditions. Customers are encouraged to call NextBus at 202-637-7000 or check Metro’s NextBus Web site to find out when the next bus will arrive.

MetroAccess will also operate as usual this evening and supervisors will monitor road conditions. Customers with scheduled rides may call (301) 562-5360 for a status update of their ride.

Depending on overnight snowfall accumulations on the roadways, Metrobus and MetroAccess users should anticipate slightly longer waits for service on Wednesday morning (Jan. 12). Metrorail is expected to operate on time on Wednesday, Jan. 12, with snow having little to no impact on rail service.

There are a variety of ways for Metro customers to stay informed during inclement weather. Metro constantly updates local news media of Metro service changes. If there are delays, information is available at www.metroopensdoors.com on the left side of the home page or by calling Metro at 202-637-7000. Customers can also subscribe to e-Alerts to receive up-to-date service disruption information on Metrorail and MetroAccess.
