To improve service reliability, Metro to conduct mid-day Red Line track work

Trains to share one track between Friendship Heights and Medical Center on weekdays

Red Line trains will share one track mid-day between the Friendship Heights and Medical Center Metrorail stations weekdays from Jan. 25 through Feb. 11 to enable Metro to perform state-of-good repair work on the tracks. The 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. work schedule will result in improved service reliability for customers traveling between these stations.

To alert customers about this upcoming work, Metro will make train and system announcements and issue e-alerts.

Red Line trains will depart the Shady Grove and Glenmont Metrorail stations approximately every 18 minutes while the work is taking place. Every other Red Line train traveling in the direction of the Shady Grove Metrorail station will terminate at the Friendship Heights Metrorail station and return to downtown Washington. Metrorail riders traveling between the Friendship Heights and Silver Spring Metrorail stations will see a train approximately every 8 to 10 minutes.

Better plan your Metrorail trip by signing up to receive an e-alert. You can personalize Metro e-alerts by signing up to monitor service on specific lines on specific days of the week and on specific times of the day.
