February's planned work on all lines to improve safety and reliability


Work aimed at rebuilding the Metrorail system

This month, in addition to the Presidents Day Holiday Weekend closure of the Federal Triangle and Smithsonian Metrorail stations on the Blue and Orange Line, Metro will also conduct major weekend and weeknight track maintenance work on all lines as part of its effort to rebuild the Metrorail system. During the Presidents' Day Holiday Weekend, all projects will begin at 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, and conclude on Monday, Feb. 21 at closing. For all other weekend projects, they will begin at 10 p.m. Friday night and conclude Sunday at closing.

All weeknight projects will begin at 10 p.m. and conclude at closing (midnight).

Please note, this schedule is subject to change. Metro riders can visit www.metroopensdoors.com at the end of each month to see the following month’s schedule of work. Metro will continue to issue news releases each Thursday as a reminder to provide updates about any last minute weekend track maintenance schedule changes.
