Normal service resumes at Rockville Metrorail station


Red Line service temporarily disrupted after man struck by train

Normal service resumed on the Red Line at 5:20 p.m. after a man was struck by a train at the Rockville Metrorail station around 12:20 p.m. today (March 4).

The Rockville station was temporarily closed at approximately 12:40 p.m. as emergency personnel responded to the incident. The station reopened around 1:20 p.m. though Red Line trains shared a single track between the Shady Grove and Twinbrook Metrorail stations until 5:20 p.m.

Eyewitnesses told police that the man intentionally placed himself in the path of the oncoming train. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. The Metro Transit Police investigation is ongoing.
