Metro successfully completes weekend track work

All Metrorail stations reopened on-time Monday

All Metrorail stations opened on time today after successful weekend track projects that took place during the weekend.

During the weekend, Metro continued repairs on the aerial structure outside the Cheverly Metrorail station, made track circuit upgrades near the Deanwood Metrorail station, installed 6,000 feet of cellular communication cables to ultimately improve cell phone coverage, replaced 2,000 feet of old track, installed new rail insulators, new rail ties, new track fasteners, made repairs to 19 escalators and 14 elevators, and fixed the platform at the Minnesota Avenue Metrorail station.

Free shuttle buses enabled customers to get past work zones and were busy throughout the weekend. Approximately 28,477 customers used the shuttle buses to help complete their trips during the entire weekend.
