Metro, jurisdictions evaluating Metrobus service on eight bus lines

Goal of review is to improve service delivery

Metro, in cooperation with its jurisdictional partners, is beginning a Service Evaluation Study to review the overall performance of eight bus lines with the aim of reducing crowding and improving service reliability, frequency, travel time, bus stop amenities and customer communications.

Metro regularly undertakes a systematic look at bus routes throughout the region to improve their efficiency and service delivery. Bus lines chosen for this study were based on feedback from customers, jurisdictional priorities and an assessment by Metrobus service planners. Bus lines under review include:

• Laurel Express Line (Routes 87, 88), which operates from Laurel to Greenbelt (Route 87) and New Carrollton (Route 88) Metrorail stations;
• Laurel Line (Routes 89, 89M), which operates from Laurel to Greenbelt Metrorail station;
• Military Road-Crosstown Line (Routes E2,3,4), which operates from Friendship Heights Metrorail station to Ivy City (Routes E2,3) and Eastern Avenue (Route E4);
• Chevy Chase Line (Route E6), which operates from Friendship Heights Metrorail station to Greene Circle;
• Lincolnia-North Fairlington Line (Routes 7A,E,F,Y), which operates from Landmark (Routes 7A,F) and Southern Towers (Routes 7E,Y) to Pentagon and Federal Triangle (Route 7Y only) Metrorail stations;
