Online survey, town hall meetings, public hearings gather input on FY12 budget

Metro launched an online survey this week, available in English and Spanish, to gather public input on options to balance the transit authority’s FY2012 budget. Anyone who wishes to participate can go to http://survey.wbanda.com/budgetsurvey.

In addition to speaking at public hearings next week or submitting a written statement, members of the public can participate in an online survey about possible options to fully fund Metro’s operating budget for the coming fiscal year beginning July 1.

The survey will be available until noon on Friday, May 20. Participants are asked to enter their name and address, and respond to questions about options for funding the FY12 budget. Personal information is kept confidential, and participants have the option to use a password to suspend the survey at any time and return to complete it later.

Metro has scheduled a series of six public meetings from May 16 to 19 in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. Open house information and town hall style meetings will precede the official public hearings with members of the Metro Board of Directors and executive leadership team available to talk with and answer questions from the public. For more information, please visit www.wmata.com/hearings.cfm.

The Board is slated to act on the FY 2012 budget in June, and any service changes they adopt would take effect September 2011.
