Metro seeks input on Metrobus Service Evaluations

Transportation agencies, riders to discuss service issues, potential solutions

In cooperation with its jurisdictional partners, Metro will host six community meetings in May and June to continue discussions on the agency’s Service Evaluation Study along eight important Metrobus corridors. At the community meetings, the project team will discuss preliminary findings and potential service improvement concepts.

The meetings are part of ongoing studies to improve Metrobus service on some of the region’s most heavily used bus lines. They are not related to the public hearings on the FY2012 budget, which also took place this month.

Riders are encouraged to attend one of the following public meetings to provide your input on the services that are being evaluated:

5A Meeting: 6:30 pm to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, at Herndon Fortnightly Library, 768 Center Street, Herndon, VA.

87/88, 89/89M, and B30 Meeting: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, at Stanley Memorial Library, 507 7th Street, Laurel, MD.

• 7A,E,F,Y & 7B,C,D,H,P,W,X Lines Meeting #1: 5:30 pm to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, at John Adams Elementary School, 5651 Rayburn Avenue, Alexandria, VA.

All members of the public are welcome and no advance registration is required.

The format of the meetings will be “open house,” where participants can come by at any time between the beginning and end of the meeting to offer their input; there will be no set time for a presentation. Metro hopes that the open format will promote a direct dialogue between Metrobus riders and project staff, and that the absence of a meeting schedule will appeal to those who have only a few minutes to participate.
