Metro Transit Police seek public's help in ongoing carjacking investigation

 Metro Transit Police are investigating an armed robbery and carjacking that took place at approximately 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, in the parking garage at Largo Town Center station.

Two individuals – a male, 54, and his daughter, age 21 of Bowie, MD – were the victims of an armed robbery and subsequent carjacking. According to their statements to police, the victims were approached by four suspects within the garage stairwell and robbed of their personal belongings. An altercation followed in which the female victim was shot and the male victim was struck in the head with a blunt object. Both victims were transported to a local hospital. Their injuries are non-life threatening.

The suspects are identified as four black males – two of whom were armed and all of whom were wearing ski masks. Two suspects are believed to have fled in the victim’s vehicle which was recovered a short time later in Northeast Washington.

The other two suspects are believed to have fled in a grey 2004 Audi station wagon, Maryland tags 1DME50. This vehicle has not been recovered.

All four suspects remain at large. Transit Police are seeking assistance from the public in this investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call Metro Transit Police at 202-962-2121.

MTPD also is investigating an armed carjacking at New Carrollton station that may be related. On Friday, May 20, a man reported being approached by several men around 9:30 a.m. as he was exiting his car at in the parking lot at New Carrollton. The suspects, armed with guns and wearing ski masks, robbed and assaulted the man, then drove his car out of parking lot. The victim was treated for minor injuries at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
