Bus schedule change on selected routes effective Sunday, June 26

Service adjustments reflect changes in traffic condition and customer demand

Enhancements to Metrobus service in the District of Columbia, suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia beginning on Sunday, June 26, are part of Metro’s comprehensive plan to improve service reliability, overall cost-effectiveness and local connectivity.

District of Columbia

Weekday schedules for Metrobus routes 52, 53, and 54 will be adjusted to reflect current traffic conditions. Every third midday trip will end at the McPherson Square Station (instead of the L’Enfant Plaza station) and be called Metrobus route 53. During midday hours between Takoma Station and 14th & Colorado, bus service will operate more frequently – every 24 minutes as compared to every 30 minutes today.

Along with the changes on the 52, 53 and 54, Metro will make several other route adjustments in the District of Columbia that are focused on improving service reliability for customers and matching service with ridership demand.

Schedules will be adjusted on the D8 to reflect current traffic conditions. D5 westbound service will be changed to serve the D6 stop on the K St., N.W., service roadway between 19th and 20th St. The G2 will operate on a detour route that will terminate at Dumbarton St. and Wisconsin Ave., N.W. due to ongoing street construction. On school days, the G8 will see a weekday westbound trip added departing Avondale at 4:15 p.m. to Brookland Station. Two M31 trips will be discontinued (see timetable for details).

Suburban Maryland

Enhancements to Metrobus service in Maryland will result in better connections for customers in Prince George’s and Montgomery County.

Key service changes include minor schedule adjustments to the B22, C2, C4, C11, C13, D12, D13, D14, F1, F2, G13, G14, K12 and Y9 routes.

Northern Virginia

Due to an upcoming joint development construction project at Dunn Loring Station, Metrobus routes 1B, 1C, 2A, 2C and 2T will operate on a detour route. These changes, along with several additional route adjustments are part of Metro’s comprehensive plan to improve service reliability, overall cost-effectiveness and local connectivity.

Key service changes include minor schedule adjustments to the 13F, 16F, 16G, and the 18R routes.
