Metro Earthquake Update 6


Issued at 9:00 p.m.

UPDATE: As of 10 p.m., Metrorail trains will begin operating at a new speed restriction of 30 mph -- up from the earlier 15 mph restriction.

Metro personnel continue to advance a comprehensive infrastructure inspection following today's earthquake. Crews are inspecting 106 miles of track, bridges, aerial structures and stations for any signs of structural impacts.

As of 10 p.m., Metrorail trains continue to operate at restricted speed on all lines. Speed restrictions are expected to remain in place at least through system closing tonight.

Crews will continue inspection efforts during the overnight hours, and Metro will issue an update around 5 a.m. regarding Wednesday morning service.

Elevator and escalator inspections have found no structural damage.

Bus and MetroAccess service has resumed normal operations.
