Midday track work scheduled on Metro's Blue and Yellow lines


Weekdays October 31 through November 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

As part of Metro’s ongoing effort to return the Blue and Yellow Lines to a state of good repair, crews will perform targeted track work near Braddock Road where Metro has identified a need to replace worn ties and upgrade the surface beneath the rails. The work will take place during weekday midday hours over the next three weeks—from Monday, Oct. 31 through Friday, Nov. 18, except Tuesday, Nov.1.

Customers should note the following service impacts:

Blue and Yellow Line – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31 through Friday, Nov. 18 (except Tuesday, Nov. 1)

  • Blue and Yellow Line trains will single track between Braddock Road and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport stations.
  • Yellow Line trains will operate every 18 minutes between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Sq. stations.  Customers traveling between Mt. Vernon Sq. and Fort Totten should use Green Line trains during this time.
  • Blue Line trains will operate every 18 minutes between Franconia-Springfield and Largo Town Center.
  • Customers on the Blue or Yellow lines should add about 15 minutes of travel time.

Note: Due to a special event at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Tuesday, Nov. 1, Blue and Yellow line trains will operate on a regular schedule with no track work.
