Military veterans: Metro wants you


Second annual Military Open House on Nov. 14 to recruit service members for Metro jobs

Metro will host its second annual Military Open House from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, to actively recruit retired, former and transitioning military service members for employment at the transit agency.

“Our nation’s veterans come equipped with the skills and commitment necessary to become exceptional Metro employees,” said Richard Sarles, Metro’s General Manager and Chief Executive Officer. “We want to reach out to the military community and encourage veterans to take a look at Metro as they transition back into civilian life.”

Metro is seeking hundreds of candidates to fill current and upcoming positions to support the agency’s massive rebuilding effort, “Metro Forward,” including:

  • Civil engineers
  • Mechanical engineers
  • Electrical engineers
  • Architects
  • Construction inspectors
  • Construction project managers

In addition, Metro is seeking candidates for operations positions including:

  • Police officers
  • Bus operators
  • Information Technology
  • Signal/Communications
  • Electrical technicians
  • Fare Technology
  • Bus mechanics
  • Rail car maintenance

The open house will be held on the lower lobby of Metro’s headquarters at 600 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, D.C.

Veterans interested in attending the open house are encouraged to register online by Thursday, Nov. 10, at wmata.com/military. Special assistance will be provided for disabled veterans attending the event.
