Metrobus service changes effective January 22, 2012

Metro will make adjustments to some bus routes, effective Sunday, January 22, 2012.

District of Columbia:

The Massachusetts Avenue Line, Route N2 only, will be rerouted between Friendship Heights Station and Ward Circle to Wisconsin and Nebraska Avenues via the routing and schedule that existed prior to September 25, 2011. This change will restore the connection between Cathedral Avenue and Tenleytown requested by customers.

On the Park Road Brookland Line, Routes H8 and H9, several trips that operate only on days when Carroll High School is open will be discontinued due to low ridership. The affected trips are the H8 departures from Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Station at 11:33 a.m. and 2:47 p.m. and H9 trips from Carroll High School at 11:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.

In addition, the following trips on the H8 and H9 will be discontinued due to low ridership:

  • Departing Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Station at 2:31 and 3:06 a.m. on Fridays and at 2:35 and 3:08 a.m. on Saturdays.
  • Departing Mount Pleasant at 2:28 and 3:03 a.m. on Fridays and at 2:36 and 3:09 a.m. on Saturdays.

Routes 62, 64, A4, D2, D8, G2, U4, U5, W2, W6, W8: Certain late Friday and Saturday night trips will be eliminated due to low ridership. Click here for details.

Virginia:

Barcroft - South Fairlington Line, Route 22A, trips will be added between Ballston and Barcroft (Four Mile Run Drive & Columbia Pike) to provide customers with more frequent travel options between these locations westbound in the morning and eastbound in the evening.

New Seven Corners Transit Center: The new Transit Center at Seven Corners will open on January 22, providing customers with a safer, more convenient location to wait for their bus.  All daytime and evening service prior to 10 p.m. on routes 1A, 1B, 1E, 1F, 4A, 4B, 4H, 28A and 28X will serve the new transit center. Schedules on these routes will remain the same.  Trips after 10 p.m. on routes 1A, 1F, 4B, 4H and 28A will also serve the new transit center and discontinue service to the alternate terminals at Castle Place & Castle Road and Leesburg Pike & Castle Road. Schedules will remain the same.

Maryland:

Routes C4, J2, Q4, Y7, Y9: Certain late Friday and Saturday night trips will be eliminated due to low ridership.  Click here for details.
