Red Line delays expected during morning commute, Thursday, Jan. 26


Cracked rail near Tenleytown

Update 10:00 a.m.: Personnel and equipment, including a crane, are on scene making repairs to the cracked rail. Repairs are expected to take 4-6 hours. Metro is working to complete repairs prior to the afternoon rush hour.

ORIGINAL RELEASE FOLLOWS

Metro is advising Red Line customers to allow additional travel time during this morning's commute due to a cracked rail outside Tenleytown Station on the inbound track.  

Trains are single tracking between Friendship Heights and Van Ness with delays in both directions.  The disruption is expected to cause 20-30 minute delays throughout the morning commute.

Every other Red Line train will turn back to Silver Spring at Farragut North.

Metro personnel are en route to begin repairs.
