Seven Corners Transit Center opens

Bus stops relocated from shopping center to Arlington Boulevard

Metro General Manager Richard Sarles and Metro Board Chair and Fairfax County Supervisor Catherine Hudgins officially opened the new Seven Corners Transit Center in Falls Church, Va., today.

Metrobus routes 1A, 1B, 1E, 1F, 4A, 4B, 4H, 28A and 28X are now using the new transit center adjacent to the Seven Corners Shopping Center at Leesburg Pike and Route 50. These buses previously traveled through and made stops in the parking lot of the Seven Corners Shopping Center.

“With the dedication of this new facility, Fairfax County once again shows its’ strong commitment to transit,” said Chair Hudgins. “This state-of-the-art facility will allow commuter’s access to eastern Fairfax County and western Arlington County.”

“We are grateful for the investment that Fairfax County has made for the benefit of Metro customers,” said Richard Sarles. “This new facility provides improved amenities for bus riders while improving traffic flow.”

The transit center features new bus shelters with “you are here maps” at each shelter, information cases displaying route times and improved lighting. The relocation of the bus stops also aims to relieve traffic and congestion issues of buses circulating through the parking areas of the shopping center.

Metro worked with Fairfax Country and the property manager, Saul Properties, on this project. Fairfax County provided the funding and constructed the new transit center.

Buses began using the new transit center on Sunday, Jan. 22. Approximately 1,000 passengers will use the Seven Corners Transit Center each weekday.
