Metro to hold public meeting for Metrobus F4, F6 Line Study

Riders, community members, Metro to discuss bus service problems and solutions

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority will host two public meetings Wednesday, March 21, and Thursday, March 22, as part of the Metrobus F4/F6 Line Study.

The meetings will take place:

  • Wednesday, March 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hyattsville Library, 6530 Adelphi Road. The library is just north of East-West Highway, east of Belcrest Road and close to the Prince George’s Plaza Metro station. [map & directions]
  • Thursday, March 22, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Takoma Park Community Center, 7500 Maple Avenue. [map & directions]

The purpose is to hear directly from riders of the F4 and F6 routes about issues with the service and potential improvements that would address them. The meeting is open to all, and no registration is required.

Upon arriving at the public meeting, participants can review information about the study and speak individually with the project team. The meeting will be “open house” style, meaning that participants may arrive any time between the start and end time of each meeting. No presentation will be given; instead, the meeting is intended to start a dialogue between Metro and riders about possible solutions to F4 and F6 problems.

After the public meeting, the study team will use the suggestions received from participants to create a list of improvement options. The options will be evaluated in spring 2012, and the study will culminate in a set of recommendations that will be presented to the public and the Metro Board for approval in summer 2012.

The Metrobus F4/F6 Line runs between the Silver Spring and New Carrollton Metro stations. The line currently has around 7,500 passengers on an average weekday, one of the largest riderships in the Metrobus system. Spanish translators and visual materials in Spanish will be available.

A rider survey for the F4/F6 Line was conducted in February, and about 600 responses have been received so far. The preliminary results of the survey will be discussed at the March 21 and March 22 public meetings.
