Metrobus detours due to Cherry Blossom Parade, DC Emancipation Festival


Expect delays and detours Monday due to event downtown

Metrobus customers traveling on routes serving Downtown DC should expect detours and possible delays due to special events on Saturday, April 14, and Monday, April 16.

On Saturday, the National Cherry Blossom Parade will take place along Constitution Avenue between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., affecting Metrobus routes  5A, 13F, 13G, 32, 34, 36, 52, 54, 63, 64, 70, 74, 80, P6, S2, S4 and V8.  View detour information

Also on Saturday, the Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival will take place along Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 9th St NW and 14th St NW, resulting in detours for Metrobus routes 13F, 13G, 32, 36, 63, 64, A11, A42, A46, A48, P6, S2 and S4. View detour information

On Monday, the DC Emancipation Day Parade & Festival will take place along Pennsylvania Ave NW, impacting Metrobus service between 4 a.m. and midnight.  DC Emancipation Day is a District of Columbia holiday, but not a federal holiday.  As a result, all Metrorail and Metrobus service will operate on a regular weekday schedule; DC school bus trips will be cancelled.  Traffic congestion is expected throughout the downtown area, and customers on Metrobus routes 32, 34, 36, 37, 39, 54, 64, 70, 74, D6, P6, S2 and S4 are encouraged to allow additional travel time and take note of planned detours.  View detour information
