Metro to hold second round of public meetings for Metrobus F4, F6 Line Study

Riders, community members, Metro to discuss potential improvement options

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority will host two public meetings Tuesday, May 15, and Wednesday, May 16, as part of the Metrobus F4-F6 Line Study.

The meetings will take place:

  • Tuesday, May 15, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 p.m. at the New Carrollton Library, 7414 Riverdale Road. The closest Metrobus F4 stop is at Riverdale Road and Lamont Drive.
  • Wednesday, May 16,, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Takoma Park Community Center, 7500 Maple Avenue. Metrobus routes F4 and F6 stop near the community center.

At the first round of public meetings in March, participants discussed problems they have seen with service on the F4 and F6 routes. At the upcoming public meetings, the project team will show preliminary options for service improvements and ask participants for their feedback on them. The meeting is open to all, and no advance registration is required.

Both meetings will be “open house” style, meaning that participants may arrive at any time between the start time and end time of each meeting. No presentation will be given; instead, participants can speak individually with project team members, ask questions, and comment on the options being evaluated.

A rider survey for the F4-F6 Line was conducted in February, and about 600 responses have been received so far. The preliminary results of the survey were discussed at the March 21 and March 22 public meetings. The next step in the study process is for the project team to refine the improvement options based on feedback heard at these public meetings and then prepare a set of recommendations to be approved by the Metro Board in summer 2012.

The Metrobus F4-F6 Line runs between the Silver Spring and New Carrollton Metro stations. The line currently has around 7,500 passengers on an average weekday, one of the largest riderships in the Metrobus system.
Spanish translators and visual materials in Spanish will be available.
