Media Advisory: Metro and NoMa community to dedicate new station name at event Wednesday
NoMa-Gallaudet U is the new name for the former New York Ave-Florida Ave-Gallaudet U station
WHAT: Metro, District of Columbia and community members will gather for a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially rename the New York Ave-Florida Ave-Gallaudet U station on Metro’s Red Line. The station will now go by the name NoMa-Gallaudet U. Signs at the station and throughout the system as well as the Metrorail system map have been changed to reflect the new name. “New York Ave” will be shown as a secondary name for one year to assist customers during the transition. The name change is in accordance with guidelines adopted by the Metro Board of Directors last year. The NoMa-Gallaudet U station opened in November 2004 and serves more than 7,400 riders each weekday.
