Metro restores single-track Green Line service between Fort Totten & PG Plaza

Work continues to restore second track

Metro has restored Green Line rail service between Fort Totten and Prince George's Plaza as of 8 p.m. Sunday. Trains are now single tracking between Fort Totten and Prince George's Plaza as work continues on the adjacent track. All shuttle buses have been cancelled.

Crews will continue working Sunday night to rebuild a 1000-foot section of track that was damaged in Friday's derailment outside West Hyattsville Station. It is not yet known whether the second track will be restored for Monday morning's commute.

Customers traveling on the Green Line should plan about 15-20 minutes of additional travel time on Monday morning.

All other lines are expected to operate normally, as heat-related speed restrictions will be lifted for the start of service on Monday morning.

Customers should check wmata.com/alerts or listen to broadcast traffic reports for updated information on Monday morning.
