Nationals fans attending Friday evening game advised of track work starting at 10 p.m.

Important travel tips to avoid delays

Metro is encouraging Nationals fans attending Friday's evening game to be aware of service changes after 10 p.m. on the Red and Orange lines as a result of scheduled weekend track work.

Green Line service to and from Navy Yard-Ballpark will operate normally with no scheduled track work all weekend.  In addition, there is no scheduled work on the Blue or Yellow lines.

However, customers who normally transfer to the Red Line after the game should be aware of the following:

  • Starting at 10 p.m., free shuttle buses will replace trains between Union Station and Fort Totten.  Three stations -- NoMa-Gallaudet U, Rhode Island Ave and Brentwood -- will be closed.  Customers using shuttle bus service should allow about 30 minutes of additional travel time.

  • To avoid delays, customers traveling to Red Line stations from Fort Totten to Glenmont are strongly encouraged to remain on the Green Line to Fort Totten for connecting Red Line service.

  • Red Line service from Union Station to Shady Grove will operate at regular weekend intervals following the game.

For additional information, please refer to the Red Line service advisory.

In addition, on the Orange Line, Nationals fans should be aware of the following:

  • Starting at 10 p.m., free shuttle buses will replace trains between East Falls Church and Vienna.

  • Customers who normally drive and park at Vienna, Dunn Loring or West Falls Church stations may wish to consider using alternate stations to avoid longer travel times.

For additional information, please refer to the Orange Line service advisory.

As always, National fans are reminded to load enough value on their farecard or SmarTrip for their entire roundtrip. Customers using paper fare cards pay $1 more per trip than those using SmarTrip.  SmarTrip cards can be purchased in advance at selected stations, CVS, Giant Food, Metro Sales offices, regional transit stores, online at smartrip.com, or at selected Metrorail stations.
