Red Line two-track service restored at Farragut North following earlier person struck by train

Metro has restored normal two-track operations on the Red Line between Judiciary Square and Dupont Circle stations following an earlier emergency response and investgation for a person who was struck by a train at Farragut North.

The incident occurred at 10:56 a.m., when a 24-year-old Maryland man was struck and fatally injured by a Shady Grove-bound train. Metro Transit Police report that the incident appears to be intentional.

During the emergency response, Red Line trains operated about every 20 minutes using a single track between Judiciary Square and Dupont Circle stations. Customers experienced delays in both directions.

Red Line customers should expect residual delays to continue for about the next 30-45 minutes. Rush hour service is expected to be normal.
