Two-track Green and Yellow line service restored

As of 10:50 a.m., Metro has restored normal two-track operations between Archives and Mount Vernon Square following an earlier person struck by train at Gallery Place.

The earlier incident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. when an adult male intentionally placed himself in the path of an arriving northbound Yellow Line train at Gallery Place Station.  Metro Transit Police and DC Fire & EMS responded.  The man was fatally injured.

During the emergency response, Metro was able to continue operating trains using a single track.

Customers on the Green and Yellow lines should expect minor residual delays for about 30 minutes as trains resume their normal schedules.
