Metro advises bus customers of detours, delays this Saturday due to Rock 'n' Roll Marathon

Metrobus customers traveling in the District this Saturday on any of three dozen bus routes are advised to allow extra travel time and to expect detours and delays as a result of this year's Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon & Half Marathon.

The race is scheduled to take place Saturday, March 16, 2013, with street closures starting around 6:30 a.m. and continuing through mid-afternoon.

The event will have a significant impact on the following Metrobus routes:

32, 34, 36, 38B, 42, 52, 54, 64, 70, 74, 80, 90, 92, 96, A42, A46, A48, B2, D4, D6, D8, G2, G8, H2, H4, L2, M6, N6, P6, S2, S4, U2, U6, V8, X2 and X8

Bus customers are encouraged to transfer from Metrobus to Metrorail at the first available station. During the event, bus customers can request a special transfer from their bus operator that allows them to transfer to the rail system at no additional charge.

On Saturday, the Metrorail system will open two hours early, at 5 a.m., for the event.

Once the race begins, most buses north of Constitution Avenue will "turn back" at a location near a rail station, if possible. Buses will resume their regular routes into Downtown DC in the mid-afternoon as streets reopen. Buses south of Constitution Avenue will have irregular service until the runners clear the Downtown area, with service restored as streets become available.

Additional details, including route-specific detour information, will be available this afternoon at wmata.com/alerts/bus.
