Metro rebuilding work June 28-30

Metro's multi-year rebuilding effort will continue over the weekend of June 28-30 resulting in service adjustments beginning at 10 p.m. Friday night and continuing through system closing on Sunday.

Overview
While there are no station closures this weekend, rebuilding work will result in service adjustments on all lines.  The Green Line service adjustment will affect riders traveling to or from Greenbelt Station only.

Metro is investing $5.5 billion to install new rail, ties, platforms, escalators, signals, lighting, communication systems, and more. It represents the largest capital investment -- and work effort -- since the system's original construction in the early 1970s.

Green Line

Green Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals between College Park & Branch Ave stations.  Regular weekend intervals are every 12 minutes during daytime hours and every 15-20 minutes at other times.

Due to a single-track work zone between Greenbelt and College Park, every other Green Line train will run between Branch Ave & College Park only, rather than between Branch Ave and Greenbelt.

As a result, passengers traveling to or from Greenbelt Station ONLY may experience travel times up to 15 minutes longer than normal.

Work Performed: Construction will continue on a new test track to accept new 7000-series railcars.
