Metro network issues affecting several communication systems

Metro is currently experiencing intermittent network issues that are affecting several customer-facing systems.  The issues do not affect rail safety-critical systems, and trains are operating on all lines.

  • Due to intermittent issues with phone service, anyone needing Metro Transit Police assistance is advised to call 911 until further notice.  All local police and fire departments have been notified of the issue.
  • Platform displays at Metrorail stations may not display train arrival predictions.
  • Metro's public website, wmata.com, has been experiencing intermittent downtime over the past hour and may not be available.
  • Phone lines at Metro's customer information center were offline for a brief period, but are now available.

Metro's Operations Control Center is able to communicate with all trains and all stations.
