Metro customer-facing communication systems restored
UPDATE: As of 11:45 a.m., all customer-facing communication systems have been fully restored, including live operator assistance.
The following services have been restored:
- wmata.com
- Customer information by phone (202-637-7000)
- Transit Police phone lines (202-962-2121)
- Platform displays (predicted train arrivals)
- NextBus
- MetroAccess call center
The network issue affecting customer-facing systems began shortly before 9 a.m. Technicans have been working to isolate and resolve the problem. A cause has not yet been determined.
The issue did not affect rail safety-critical systems. Trains have been operating on all lines throughout the morning. In addition, Metro's Operations Control Center is able to communicate with all trains and all stations.
