Metrorail to open at 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, for Navy-Air Force Half Marathon
On Saturday, September 14, the Metrorail system will open one hour early -- at 6 a.m. -- for the Navy-Air Force Half Marathon and Navy 5 Miler.
Travel Information
- The closest Metro stop to the start of the race is Smithsonian Station (Blue/Orange lines). Please note that due to scheduled reconstruction, buses will replace Blue and Yellow line trains this weekend between Braddock Road and Pentagon City. Customers traveling through this area should add up to 20 minutes of travel time. Also take note of scheduled work on the Red, Orange and Green lines.
- To avoid lines after the race, participants are encouraged to load enough value on their SmarTrip or paper fare card for their entire round trip. SmarTrip customers can load value to their card online at smartrip.wmata.com.
- If using a paper farecard, remember that a $1 surcharge is applied for each trip. Also, be sure to protect your farecard from moisture during the race.
The additional hour of Metrorail service is funded by an agreement with event organizers.
