Metro seeks input on Rhode Island Avenue and Route 1 Metrobus services

Riders, transportation agencies, to discuss service issues, potential solutions on seven routes

Metro, in cooperation with the District of Columbia Department of Transportation, Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation, and the Maryland Department of Transportation will host three community meetings to discuss the service evaluation study for the following Metrobus routes:

  • Route G8 (Rhode Island Avenue Line)
  • Routes 81, 82, 83, and 86 (College Park Line)
  • Route 84 (Rhode Island Avenue-New Carrollton Line)
  • Route T18 (Annapolis Road Line)

The meetings are part of ongoing studies to improve Metrobus service on some of the region’s most heavily used bus lines. At the meetings, the project team will discuss preliminary findings and potential service improvement concepts.

The public meetings will be held:

Monday, September 23, 2013
Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Neighborhood Library (Main Meeting Room)
Rhode Island Avenue & 7th Street NW
Washington, DC

Tuesday, September 24, 2013
The View
635 Edgewood Street NE
Washington, DC

Thursday, September 26, 2013
Hyattsville City Hall, Municipal Building (1st Floor Multi-purpose Room)
4310 Gallatin Street
Hyattsville, MD

All three public meetings will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and are open to all members of the public.

No advance registration is required, and participants may arrive any time between the start and end time of each meeting.  Metro hopes that the open format will promote a direct dialogue between Metrobus riders and project staff, and that the absence of a meeting schedule will appeal to those who have only a few minutes to participate.

Metro and its agency partners are relying on feedback from participants to develop a set of preliminary recommendations  in late 2013.

A Spanish translator will be provided upon request.  All locations are wheelchair-accessible.  Persons requiring special accommodations are asked to e-mail info@metrobus-studies.com by September 19.
