Michael Winter to be honored at the 2nd annual Accessibility Excellence Awards

Metro’s Department of Access Services and the Accessibility Advisory Committee have awarded the 2013 Richard W. Heddinger Accessible Transportation Award posthumously to Michael Winter. Mr. Winter was long a champion for people with disabilities, devoting his life’s work to improving access to transportation and independent living all across the country.

“We are pleased to present to Michael’s family the Heddinger Award as a permanent reminder of the impact he has had on this region and the disability community,” said Christian Kent, Assistant General Manager, Access Services.

The Heddinger award honors former Accessibility Advisory Committee Chair Richard W. Heddinger.
