Metro to hold second round of public meetings for Rhode Island Avenue & Route 1 line services

Riders, transportation agencies, to discuss service issues, potential solutions on seven routes

Metro, in cooperation with the District of Columbia Department of Transportation, Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation, and the Maryland Department of Transportation will host two additional community meetings to discuss the Metrobus Route G8 (the Rhode Island Avenue Line) and Routes 81, 82, 83, and 86 (the College Park Line); Route 84 (the Rhode Island Avenue-New Carrollton Line); and Route T18 (the Annapolis Road Line) service evaluation study. The meetings are a part of ongoing studies to improve Metrobus service on some of the region’s most heavily used bus lines. At the meetings, the project team will discuss preliminary findings and potential service improvement concepts.

The public meetings will be held:

Tuesday, November 12, 2013 -- 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Neighborhood Library (Main Meeting Room)
Rhode Island Avenue & 7th Street NW
Washington, DC

Wednesday, November 13, 2013 -- 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Hyattsville City Hall, Municipal Building (1st Floor Multi-purpose Room)
4310 Gallatin Street
Hyattsville, MD

Both meetings are open to all members of the public.  No advance registration is required.

Participants may arrive any time between the start and end time of each meeting.  Metro hopes that the open format will promote a direct dialogue between Metrobus riders and project staff, and that the absence of a meeting schedule will appeal to those who have only a few minutes to participate.

Metro and its agency partners are relying on feedback from participants so that a set of preliminary recommendations can be developed in late 2013.

A Spanish translator will be provided upon request for those with limited English proficiency.  Both locations are wheelchair-accessible.  Persons requiring special accommodations are asked to e-mail info@metrobus-studies.com before November 8.
