Extra Metrobus service to and from area airports for Thanksgiving week


Most rail lines free of track work over holiday weekend

Metro will run more than 200 additional Metrobus trips to and from Washington Dulles International and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall airports for the benefit of riders traveling during the Thanksgiving holiday period.

With the exception of adjusted service on the Orange Line on Saturday only, Metro will take a short break from scheduled rebuilding over the four-day Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Thursday, Nov. 28, through Sunday, Dec. 1. On Saturday, Orange Line trains will run every 20 minutes to allow for preparation for the new Silver Line. All other lines will operate on regular weekend schedules on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day), Saturday and Sunday.

Service information for Thanksgiving Day

  • Metrorail: Trains will run on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day with no scheduled track work.  The system will open at 7 a.m. and close at midnight.  Off-peak fares will be in effect all day, and parking will be free at Metro-operated facilities.
  • Metrobus: Bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day.  Customers should check bus timetables for details.
  • MetroAccess:  Paratransit service will operate during the same hours as Metrorail and Metrobus.  Subscription trips will be cancelled on the holiday.

All Metro services will operate on a regular schedules (weekday, Saturday or Sunday, as appropriate) on Friday, November 29; Saturday, November 30; and Sunday, December 1. Normal fares will be in effect.

Additional service to/from Washington Dulles International Airport

  • Metrobus route 5A provides direct service between Washington Dulles International Airport and L’Enfant Plaza and Rosslyn Metrorail stations.
  • The fare for 5A bus service is $6 per person ($3 for seniors and people with disabilities).
  • Additional buses on Metrobus route 5A (Dulles) will operate in addition to regularly scheduled service on Tuesday, Nov. 26; Wednesday, Nov. 27; and Sunday, Dec. 1.  Eighteen additional trips will operate on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 16 additional trips will run on Sunday.

Additional service to/from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport

  • Travelers can reach the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport by riding Metro’s Green Line to the Greenbelt Metrorail station and transferring to the B30 Metrobus.
  • The fare for B30 bus service is $6 per person ($3 for seniors and people with disabilities).
  • Additional buses on Metrobus route B30 (BWI) will operate in addition to regularly scheduled service on Wednesday, Nov. 27; Friday, Nov. 29; Saturday, Nov. 30; and Sunday, Dec. 1. Approximately 60 additional trips will operate on Wednesday, and approximately 50 additional trips will run each on Saturday and Sunday.
