Weekend service adjustments January 17-19 for rebuilding

Reconstruction of the Metrorail system will continue over the weekend of January 17-19, with service adjustments beginning at 10 p.m. Friday night and continuing through system closing on Sunday.

Service on the Yellow Line will operate on a regular weekend schedule. Green Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals between College Park and Branch Ave stations; buses will replace trains at Greenbelt Station on Saturday and Sunday only. Trains on the Orange and Blue lines will run every 20 minutes, rather than the usual 12-20 minutes; and on the Red Line, buses will replace trains between Woodley Park and Metro Center.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day service information
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 20, Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. and close at midnight. Trains will operate on a Saturday schedule on all lines with no track work in effect. Parking at all Metro-owned lots and garages is free on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Metro is investing $5.5 billion to install new rail, ties, platforms, escalators, signals, lighting, communication systems, and more. It represents the largest capital investment -- and work effort -- since the system's original construction in the early 1970s.
