Metro News Release

For immediate release: February 13, 2014

SERVICE ALERT: Metrobus service suspension for the remainder of the evening through 5 a.m. Friday

Due to extremely hazardous conditions that developed quickly on area roadways, Metro is suspending all bus service this evening, effective immediately.  Bus service had been restored at 2 p.m. with limited service on only a small number of major arteries.  At this time, service cannot be safely maintained on even those routes.

Metrobus service will remain suspended until 5 a.m. Friday.  Starting at 5 a.m., Metro will run limited bus service on major arteries, similar to this afternoon's service.

The following routes are expected to have limited service, if conditions permit:

  • District of Columbia: 32, 36, 52, 54, 70, 90, 92, A6/A8, S2, X2

  • Maryland: 83, A12, C4, C22, D12, F4, J2, K6, P12, Q1, T18, Y9

  • Virginia: 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 7A, 9A, 10B, 16A, 22A/25A, 23A, 28A, 29N

All bus service may be subject to detours and delays due to road conditions.  Buses will operate less frequently than a normal schedule, and riders may experience increased wait time at their bus stop.  All bus customers are encouraged to allow extra time and sign up for MetroAlerts to receive route-specific updates.
