Metrorail weekend service adjustments for March 7-9

Metro Center Station closed on Saturday and Sunday; trains will pass through the station without stopping

Reconstruction of the Metrorail system will continue over the weekend of March 7-9 with service adjustments beginning at 10 p.m. Friday night and continuing through system closing on Sunday.

Trains on the Red, Yellow and Green lines will operate at regular weekend intervals, except at Greenbelt Station on Saturday only (see below). Orange and Blue line trains will operate every 20 minutes.  In addition, trains on the Red, Orange and Blue lines will bypass Metro Center Station on Saturday and Sunday.

Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend: Daylight-saving time begins at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 9. At that time, all clocks are moved ahead one hour. When that happens, it will become 3 a.m. EDT (new time), and the Metrorail system will close.  Riders should expect the last trains of the evening to move through stations between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. EST (old time).

Metro is investing $5.5 billion to install new rail, ties, platforms, escalators, signals, lighting, communication systems, and more. It represents the largest capital investment -- and work effort -- since the system's original construction in the early 1970s.
