Metrorail weekend service adjustments April 25-27 to allow for rebuilding

Reconstruction of the Metrorail system will continue over the weekend of April 25-27 with service adjustments beginning at 10 p.m. Friday night and continuing through system closing on Sunday.

Red Line trains will run every 20 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont, with additional trains between Shady Grove & Judiciary Square during daytime hours. On Saturday, trains on the Yellow and Green lines will operate every 15 minutes, rather than every 12 minutes. Buses will replace Orange Line trains between Stadium-Armory and Cheverly, and will replace Blue Line trains between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road.

Early Opening Sunday Morning for Nike Women Half Marathon
Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, for customers traveling to the Nike Women Half Marathon. The start line is accessible from Metro Center (Red/Blue/Orange lines), Federal Triangle (Blue/Orange lines) or Archives (Yellow/Green lines).

Metro is investing $5.5 billion to install new rail, ties, platforms, escalators, signals, lighting, communication systems, and more. It represents the largest capital investment -- and work effort -- since the system's original construction in the early 1970s.
