Metro announces convention pass for visitors

Discounted Metrorail passes available through partnership with Destination DC

Convention planners now have a convenient and cost-effective way to provide transportation for their guests within the National Capital Region.

Metro today announced a discounted three-day unlimited Metrorail pass for convention visitors available exclusively through a partnership with Destination DC. Sold in quantities of 1,000 or more, the Convention Pass provides a discount of more than 30 percent off the regular one-day pass price.

“We are excited to partner with Destination DC to offer this first-of-its-kind convention pass program,” said Assistant General Manager for Customer Service, Communications and Marketing Lynn Bowersox. “The Convention Pass SmarTrip® card provides savings for visitors in the region, and gives convention planners another reason to choose D.C. for their event.”

Sold for $30 each, the Convention Pass SmarTrip card comes pre-loaded with three one-day Metrorail passes that allow for unlimited travel – with no time restrictions – on the day it is used. By purchasing the Convention Pass, organizers save $13.50 per pass versus purchasing one-day passes individually.

The Convention Pass is available exclusively through Destination DC. For more information, or to purchase Convention Passes, event organizers should contact Destination DC at (202) 789-7000 or online at http://washington.org/contact-us.
