MEDIA ADVISORY // PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: Metro to unveil new-generation faregate at Gallery Place

WHAT:  Photo opportunity (no formal speaking program) and demonstration of the new-generation faregates that will be installed at 10 Metrorail stations

WHEN:  12:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014

WHERE: Gallery Place Metrorail Station, 7th and F entrance

Beginning in January, pilot participants will help Metro test its next-generation fare system using new payment methods, such as contactless credit cards and mobile phones at 10 Metrorail stations and on six bus routes. If the pilot is successful, Metro plans to replace the now decades-old faregates and vending machines at Metrorail stations, and provide new payment options aboard buses and at parking facilities.
