Metro Transit Police recover carjacked vehicle, one in custody

Update: Metro Transit Police have identified the suspect as Chauncey Wayne SLAUGHTER, 24, of Suitland.

ORIGINAL RELEASE FOLLOWS

At approximately 1:52 p.m. today, Metro Transit Police (MTPD) received a report of a carjacking of a taxicab at Addison Road Station.

Multiple MTPD units immediately responded. One MTPD officer observed the carjacked vehicle fleeing on Route 50 and attempted a traffic stop.  The suspect vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated. MTPD notified Prince George's County Police, Maryland State Police, Anne Arundel County Police, and MTA/Bay Bridge Police for assistance.

The adult male suspect was taken into custody at approximately 2:25 p.m. on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. No officers were injured in the incident. The suspect will be transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
