Martin Luther King Jr. Day service information


On Monday, Jan 19 (MLK Jr Day), Metrorail will open at 5am and close at midnight. Trains run on Saturday schedule; no track work; off-peak fares and free parking all day.

On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 19, Metro service will operate as follows:

  • Metrorail: The rail system will open at 5 a.m. and close at midnight.  Trains will operate on a Saturday schedule (every 12 minutes from endpoint terminals) with no track work on any line.  Off-peak fares will be in effect all day, and parking will be free at all Metro-operated facilities.
  • Metrobus: Buses will operate on a Saturday supplemental schedule, with some late-night (post-midnight) trips cancelled on select routes.  For details, please check the timetable for your route.
  • MetroAccess: Service will operate normal hours. However, subscription trips will be cancelled unless specifically requested.

In addition, Metro's customer information call center will be closed Monday in observance of the holiday.
