ORIGINAL NEWS RELEASE FOLLOWS -- Issued 4:11 p.m.

Metro is advising customers on the Blue and Yellow lines of a service disruption that will affect the evening commute. The track problem was reported last hour by track personnel between Braddock Road and Reagan National Airport stations. Emergency repairs are necessary before the affected track can be returned to service.

Customers are advised of the following:

  • Until repairs are completed, Blue and Yellow line trains will share one track between Reagan National Airport and Braddock Road stations.
  • All Blue and Yellow trains will encounter delays en route and may hold for extended periods of time at stations while train traffic is moving in the opposite direction.
  • As of 4 p.m., the Metrorail Operations Control Center was reporting delays up to 45 minutes. These delays could build.
  • Due to delayed Yellow Line trains, southbound Green Line trains may encounter delays in the area of L'Enfant Plaza.
  • Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.
