SERVICE ALERT: Blue Line service temporarily rerouted via Yellow Line during Friday morning commute

All Blue Line customers in Virginia should use Yellow Line for service to DC; transfer at L'Enfant Plaza

Metro is routing all trains on the Blue Line over the Yellow Line bridge to minimize delays due to a emergency switch repairs outside Pentagon Station. As a result, all Blue Line trains will be designated as "Yellow Line" trains between Franconia-Springfield and Mt Vernon Square.

This service plan has been put in place to minimize customer delays. Without this action, the switch problem would have resulted in Blue Line single tracking and delays up to 25 minutes for trains on the Yellow, Green and Blue lines. However, because the problem does not affect the Yellow Line, Metro has decided to temporarily route all trains over the Yellow Line bridge to L'Enfant Plaza and Mt Vernon Square.

Customers are advised:

  • All trains to/from Huntington and Franconia-Springfield this morning will be routed over the Yellow Line bridge between Virginia and DC.
  • Riders traveling from Virginia to any Blue Line station in DC or Maryland should transfer at L'Enfant Plaza.
  • Yellow Line trains are operating normally; there is no single tracking.
  • Blue Line trains are operating between Arlington Cemetery and Largo Town Center only, every 12 minutes, as normal.
  • There are no trains operating between Pentagon and Arlington Cemetery. Shuttle bus service is available.
