Metro Transit Police release surveillance footage showing suspect with gun subdued by Metro employees

Metro today released surveilance camera footage from three rail stations showing the heroic actions of two Metrorail employees, both Station Managers, who subdued a suspect with a gun aboard a Green Line train on Saturday, October 24.



Video Clip 1 - Anacostia Station

  • The suspect is visible on the platform in the lower right corner of the camera view. He can be seen with his hand in his left jacket pocket, the same pocket where the station manager subsequently disarmed him of a loaded weapon.
  • After the train arrives, the suspect can be seen taking a seat, visible through the open doors of the train.
  • After the doors close (4:18 p.m.), the suspect is approached by two unknown individuals and a verbal altercation begins. The station manager, seated across from the suspect, gets up to intervene.



Video Clip 2 - Navy Yard Station

  • The train arrives at Navy Yard Station at approximately 4:20 p.m.
  • Through the railcar windows in the center of the camera view, the station manager can be seen physically restraining the suspect in the aisle of the train.
  • Other passengers aboard the car can be seen moving to other cars of the train.



Video Clip 3 - Gallery Place Station

  • The train arrives at Gallery Place at 4:25 p.m., where it is met by Metro Transit Police.
  • This camera view shows MTPD officers running toward the train.
  • The suspect is taken into custody without further incident. A loaded semiautomatic handgun is recovered from the floor of the train.
