Metro Transit Police have arrested Sricharan PEDDU, a 22-year-old resident of Fairfax, Va., on charges of indecent exposure while in the Metrorail system.

According to court documents, at approximately 1:45 a.m. January 16, 2016, Peddu allegedly exposed himself and masturbated while seated next to a female passenger aboard a Green Line train. The female victim, who was not physically injured, exited the train and reported the incident to a station manager at Prince George's Plaza Station. The station manager immediately called Transit Police.

MTPD detectives used high-definition CCTV cameras to identify the suspect who, following the incident, quickly boarded a southbound Green Line train back to Waterfront Station. A public "BOLO" (be on lookout) was issued on social media in an attempt to identify the suspect.

On January 19, shortly before 5 p.m., an anonymous text tip was received by Transit Police through the "MyMTPD" system. The text message stated that a man who resembled the BOLO was at the Navy Yard Station in Southeast DC. MTPD officers responded and checked the station and surrounding area. The officers located the suspect at a nearby convenience store where he was stopped, identified and interviewed by detectives.

Following the identification, MTPD detectives obtained an arrest warrant. Peddu is charged with one count of indecent exposure in Prince George's County District Court. His trial date is set for March 14.

Metro Transit Police believe there may be other victims, who are urged to come forward and contact detectives. To speak with MTPD regarding this case, please call 202-962-2121.
