Kids' Holiday Stop Hop

Are you ready to take on this festive quest? Visit 20 festive stations around the DMV to collect 20 one-of-a-kind stickers in this holiday dash. As you gear up to ride jolly this season, your passport to winter wonder awaits.

Here's how to play:

1. Pick up your passport book for free at Metro HQ, 300 7th St, SW from December 11-December 22.
2. Visit the 20 festive stations featured in your passport book around the DMV. (You don't have to do them in a particular order.)
   Please note that the Farragut North station is temporarily closed for scheduled service. Please feel free to get your Farragut North sticker from the Dupont Circle station or use another sticker from any of the other 19 stations on that page for completing the quest!
3. At each stop, you'll find a sign, designating the station as an official Stop Hop Stop. (That's a mouthful!) When you locate the sign, please get your sticker from the take one rack at the kiosk.
4. Once completed, return your passport booklet to the designated dropbox in the lobby at Metro HQ from December 22 - December 29.

That's it! 3 grand prize winners will be selected at random to receive a prize pack of exclusive Metro swag. Parents or guardians, be sure to sign and complete the passport book, so we know who to contact if your child is selected. Players must be 4-18 to win.

2023 Kids Holiday Stop Hop Giveaway Official Rules

By participating in the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's ("WMATA") 2023 Kids Holiday Stop Hop Giveaway, participants may be eligible to win one Gift Box containing the items described in Section 4 below (valued at  $150) ("Giveaway").

No payment or purchase is necessary to enter or win, and any purchases do not improve odds of winning. The Giveaway is void wherever prohibited by law, or where it does not comply with applicable registration or filing requirements of any state or local jurisdiction.  By entering the Giveaway, you agree to these Official Rules, which are a contract, so read them carefully before entering.  This contract includes limitations of your rights and remedies.

The full Giveaway rules and requirements below.

1. Eligibility: The 2023 Kids Holiday Stop Hop Giveaway (the "Giveaway") is open only to legal residents of the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia who are ages four through 18 years or older at the time of entry, subject to all applicable laws and regulations. The Giveaway is sponsored by WMATA, 300 Seventh Street SW, Washington, DC 20024 ("Sponsor").  The Giveaway is not open to (a) any employees of Sponsor, or (b) any such employee's immediate family members (e.g., spouse, parent, stepparent, sibling, step-sibling, half-sibling, child, and step-child) or any person living in the same household as such individuals.  Only one entry per person is permitted. Any false or deceptive entries or acts (including, for example, creating or using multiple email accounts or online identities to enter multiple times) by you will render all entries by you ineligible.  Any use of robotic, automatic, programmed, or similar methods of entry by you will render your entry ineligible.  Partial and incomplete entries may be disqualified.  Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any participant or winner who, in its sole discretion, tampers with the entry process, intentionally submits multiple entries, violates these Official Rules, or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.
2. How to Enter: To enter the Giveaway, between December 11, 2023 and December 29, 2023 (1) pick up on WMATA-issued passport book from the lobby of Metro Headquarters, 300 7th Street, SW, Washington, DC 20024, (2) before you begin, if you are younger than 18, have a parent or guardian sign the passbook providing permission to participate and agreeing to the 2023 Kids Holiday Stop Hop Giveaway Official Rules provided herein; if you are 18, sign the passbook yourself, (3) fill in all information required by the passbook, (4) collect a passport sticker from each of the Metro stations (official Stop Hop Stop) listed in the passport book and affix it to the respective pages, AND (5) turn in the completed passport book by December 29, 2023 or earlier the lobby of Metro Headquarters, 300 7th Street, SW, Washington, DC 20024. For alternate entry, send a postcard with your parents' name, address, daytime telephone number and email address to 2023 Kids Holiday Stop Hop, Office of Marketing & Advertising, Washington Metropolitan Area transit Authority, 300 Seventh St. SW, Washington, DC 20024. Postcards must be received by 5 PM Friday, December 29, 2023.
3. Selection of Winners: Completing the steps detailed in paragraph 2 "How to Enter" will qualify you to enter the giveaway.  On or about January 5, 2024, WMATA will select three winners at random from the pool of all eligible participants. Should WMATA choose your entry, you (if you are 18) or your parent or guardian (if you are less than 18) must respond to WMATA's email informing you or your parent/guardian that your entry has been selected and you or your parent/guardian must confirm your full name and home address for WMATA to mail the Holiday Giftbag to you.  All questions regarding eligibility and/or determination of the winners will be decided at the sole discretion of WMATA, whose decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to this Giveaway.  The odds of winning depend on the total number of entries received.
4. Prizes: There will be a total of three prize winners. Each eligible winner will receive one Holiday Giftbag consisting of a t-shirt, wooden train set, and a bus model (total valued at $150). The Prize is non-transferable and may not be substituted by the winner or redeemed for cash value. WMATA may substitute a prize of equal or greater value in its sole discretion. Federal, state, and local taxes associated with the acceptance of the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.  WMATA will not award an unclaimed or rejected prize.
5. Redeeming Prizes: The parents/guardians of the winners (or the winner if eighteen) will be notified by email within 24 hours of drawing. Once notified, each potential winner must respond to WMATA by private message within 24 hours of notification with their complete legal name and mailing address. Each potential winner is subject to verification at the sole discretion of WMATA. Anti-fraud detection devices may be used to verify winning entries. The winning entry will be void and ineligible for the prize if it fails to pass anti-fraud detection measures.  As part of the verification process, WMATA may require the winner or the winner's parent or guardian to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability and publicity release within a specified time period or the prize may be forfeited. Unless otherwise agreed by WMATA, the winner will receive their prize via United States mail. WMATA is not responsible for lost, late, stolen, misdirected, delayed, or damaged prizes.
6. Release of Liability: By participating, participant releases WMATA and its present and future licensees, and insurers, the past and present officers, directors, volunteers, employees, representatives, agents, and advertising and promotion agencies of each of the foregoing, the predecessors, successors, transferees, and assigns of each of the foregoing, and all others associated with the development and execution of this Giveaway, from and against any and all injury, loss, or damage caused or claimed to be caused by his/her participation in the Giveaway and/or the acceptance, awarding, receipt, use, and/or misuse of any prize, and participant agrees that these entities are in no matter responsible for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relating to the promotion, and/or the awarding of any prize.
7. General: By participating, participants and/or their parents/guardians agree (i) to be bound by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements,  (ii) to be bound by the decisions of WMATA, which are final and binding in all matters relating to the Giveaway, (iii) to be bound by the Metro Digital Services Policy, and (iv) to allow WMATA to publish the names of the winners using their first name, last initial, and area of residence. WMATA is not responsible for: (i) lost, late, misdirected, damaged, garbled, or illegible entries; (ii) technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate transmission of, or failure to receive entry information by WMATA on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site or any combination thereof; or (iii) any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer, phone, or electronic device related to or resulting from participating in the Giveaway. WMATA reserves the right to permanently disqualify from this Giveaway any participant it believes has violated these Official Rules. By accepting or participating in a prize, each winner or their parent/guardian irrevocably consents to the use of such winner's name, likeness, image, voice, performance (in connection with interviews and other recordings), biographical information, and statements relating to the Giveaway or WMATA, without further compensation, in all world-wide marketing, promotion, and publicity carried out in perpetuity by WMATA in connection with this Giveaway.  WMATA reserves the right to terminate, cancel, suspend and/or modify the Giveaway if any fraud, virus, or other problem corrupts the administration, security, or proper play of the Giveaway, as determined by WMATA in its sole discretion. If the Giveaway is terminated before the end date/time, WMATA will determine the winners from all eligible entries received as of the termination date/time. If any such malfunction, error, disruption, or similar damage occurs and impairs the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper play of the Giveaway, WMATA may, in its sole discretion, suspend or terminate the Giveaway by posting a notice at www.wmata.com/kids-holiday-stop-hop
8. Disclaimers: Under no circumstances, including negligence, shall WMATA or its present and future licensees, and insurers, the past and present officers, directors, volunteers, employees, representatives, agents, and advertising and promotion agencies of each of the foregoing, the predecessors, successors, transferees, and assigns of each of the foregoing, or any others associated with the development and execution of this Giveaway, be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including without limitation, property damage, personal injury and/or death, resulting from any participant's participation in the Giveaway or acceptance, use or misuse of any prize. Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event that the preceding release is determined by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or void for any reason, the participant agrees that, by entering the Giveaway, (a) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with the Giveaway, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually without resort to any form of class action; (b) any claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering the Giveaway, but in no event attorney's fees; and (c) under no circumstances will any participant be permitted to obtain any award for, and participant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased and any other damages, other than damages for actual out-of-pocket expenses. Each winner shall bear all risk of loss or damage to his/her prize after it has been delivered to such winner via certified mail.
